An llms.txt file is a short Markdown summary at the root of a website that tells AI agents who you are and which pages matter most. It is optional: Google Search and AI Overviews don’t use it, but some AI assistants and agent tools do. For a clinic it takes about ten minutes and costs nothing to add.

What Is llms.txt?
llms.txt is a proposed standard, introduced by Jeremy Howard in September 2024, for giving large language models a clean, curated map of a website. It lives at https://yourdomain.com/llms.txt and is written in Markdown: a title, a one-paragraph summary, then lists of your key pages with short descriptions.
It is not the same as robots.txt or a sitemap:

Option 1: Yoast SEO (recommended)
- Update Yoast SEO to a current version.
- Go to Yoast SEO → Settings → Site features and switch on llms.txt.
- Choose which pages it should list, or let Yoast select them automatically.
- Visit
yourdomain.com/llms.txtto confirm it loads. Yoast keeps it updated as your content changes.

Option 2: Upload a file manually
- Save the template above as
llms.txt(UTF-8, plain text). - Upload it with your host’s File Manager or SFTP to the WordPress root folder, the same folder that holds
wp-config.php. - Make sure no plugin is also generating one, or the two will conflict.
